Xander Harris is a Sunnydale native. He's lived there all his life. He was friends with Willow Rosenburg and Jesse. When Buffy Summers came to town, he was instantly attracted to her. Jesse became a vampire and Xander was forced to stake him.
Xander has had many odd relationships. First there was the praying mantis substitute teacher, who was going to mate with Xander, then kill him. Then there was Ampata, the Incan Mummy, who was brought back from the dead. He liked Buffy, but she only thought of him as a friend. Then he and Cordelia got friendly in the broom closet. They finally started telling people they were together.
Xander then realized that he loved Willow, and the two of them shared their first kiss before Homecoming. The bad thing is, that Xander was with Cordelia and Willow was with Oz. The two of them would kiss in private. They then got caught when Spike kidnapped them. Thus, the end of the Xander and Cordelia relationship. But Xander did buy Cordy her prom dress when her family lost all their money due to the IRS, so that was their farewell. Cordelia moved to L.A.
Xander had a short, and very brief fling with Faith, the other Slayer. She later tried to strangle him.
While Buffy, Oz and Willow went on to college, Xander took a roadtrip, but didn't get very far. He later came back, and has worked several different kinds of jobs, ranging from ice cream truck man to bartender.
Xander went to the prom with an ex-vengenance demon, Anya, who lost her power source, and became mortal. She left town before Graduation, but came back later, saying she couldn't stop thinking about Xander. The two of them became 'orgasm friends', but their relationship has gotten a little stronger.
